Exploring the Layers Behind the 10,000 Unique Lady Cards
The Layered Lady playing card NFT collection features 10,000 one-of-a-kind digital collectibles. This generative artwork was created by separating and remixing layers from my mom's original mixed media piece.
Her artwork featured a woman made up of what I couldn't help but seeing as "layers." I had just learned to create generative art from multiple layers and it shaped my perception of her piece. I brought this into Figma, carefully extracted each layer, and created variations of patterns, textures, and colors for each one.
With 11 core layers and around 100 different parts, the possibilities were endless. The computer combined these in thousands of unique combinations, resulting in this expansive collection.
One key layer contains 54 different variations - these form the playing card values. Each collectible has a value of 2-12 (these are ladies after all, so kings and jacks didn't make sense and also they are all queens), A (for ace), or J (for joker). This lends each NFT the ability to function as a playable card. Other layers have 2-6 variations of materials like hair, dress, eyes, lips, and more.

This project allowed me to repurpose my mom's art into a generative digital collection with limitless possibilities. Now anyone can own and collect these NFTs celebrating her creative spirit.
